Vinton-Shellsburg MS& HS choirs to present the Holiday Choral Extravaganza

On Monday, December 17, the Vinton-Shellsburg Middle School & High School choirs will be joining forces for a Holiday Choral Extravaganza.   The concert will feature all choirs in the VSCSD performing many festive favorites.   The high school Chamber Choir has already been out and around our community spreading holiday cheer and we hope you'll join us for a whole evening dedicated to it!   The concert starts at 7:00 p.

FARMERS BANK CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE UNDER WAY TODAY

Santa will be at Farmers Savings Bank from 2-5 p.m. today as part of the bank’s annual Holiday Open House. In the “Spirit of Giving”, FSB will be giving away a total of $225 in VU bucks, and will also donate $2 to a church designated by each person who signs up. The open house continues until 5:30 p.m. with coffee, punch, treats and holiday cheer! Everyone is invited.

Riverbottom Ramblers to Perform at Farmers Mercantile December 9th

The Riverbottom Ramblers will perform at Farmers Mercantile Hall in Garrison, on Sunday, December 9th from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm. Farmers Mercantile Hall is located at 100 West Main St. in Garrison. The Riverbottom Ramblers feature traditional and contemporary bluegrass along with a blend of folk, Americana and vintage country. The band consists of Barb Horak on acoustic bass, Don Horak on guitar, Dean Schade on banjo, Mike Mass on dobro, Ursula Williams on fiddle and James Horak on mandolin.

Annual Pearl Harbor Day Ceremony December 7

The annual Pearl Harbor Day ceremony will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018 at the Vinton-Shellsburg Middle School LMC from 12-1:00 p.m. 8th grade students will help commemorate the 77th anniversary of the US entry into World War II, and the Vinton-Shellsburg Community School District's piece of the battleship USS Arizona will be on display at the ceremony.

Main Street Holiday at Center Point Depot, set for Dec. 9

The Main Street Holiday will take place at the Depot Museum and Strait Log Cabin. This is a free event, that will take place from 5 – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 9.    Refreshments include cider hot off the wood stove and snack at the Cabin by lamplight; Christmas music will be played on the console record player and player piano at the Museum.
